SCSBOA Festival – Mar 25 thru 28, 2020 – Cancelled

Dear Camarillo SCSBOA Festival Participants,

Due to the change in guidelines from the County Health Departments, District Officials, and now organizations around the country, we regret to inform you that we will be cancelling the 2020 Camarillo Music Festival. We appreciate your interest in trying our new event and hope you consider it in the future. I will be working with SCSBOA and our Booster Organization on refunding all payments that have been made.

While we are all disappointed by what we are going through, remember that our students look to us for leadership and perspective. I hope we could all recover from this and salvage some of this year come May/June.

Thank you and take care,
Daniel Cook
Camarillo Music Director

PVSD YAA Orchestra students will be participating in a Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) District Band & Orchestra Festival on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Rancho Campana High School Performing Arts Center. For students, report time at 2:30 PM, warm-up at 3:00 PM, performance at 3:30 PM and clinic at 4:00 PM. Attire will be Concert Black.

This festival is open to the public March 25-28 with middle school and high school bands from all over Southern California participating. Parents, family and friends are cordially invited to share with us the intellectual, aesthetic, and social growth that is gained through our musical performance Saturday, March 28 at 3:30 PM in the RCHS Performing Arts Center.

This district festival is one of the many festivals sponsored by the SCSBOA. Participants in district festivals become eligible to go on to the regional festival if they receive a Superior (I) rating for their performance.

Judges, who are specialists in their respective fields, are hired to make constructive comments and criticism using the official adjudication forms. They are selected by the SCSBOA and have met the standards of this professional organization. No one is a winner; there is no “first place.” Ratings are set by experienced music educators: Superior (I), Excellent (II), Good (III), Fair (IV), and Poor (V).

Medals, cloisonné pins, patches and stickers (authorized by the SCSBOA), indicating the rating earned, may be purchased by individuals the day of the festival only. They are often worn on uniforms or kept as souvenirs of achievement.

SCSBOA Festival Host – Wednesday, March 25
